GFI
The world-famous GFI, made from plumbing bits and some exhaust tubing. Breathes more freely than the OEM upper, and doesn't kill the torque.

Yes, it's the GFI v1.5b... with massive chrome plated 3" steel tubing. Drove the IACV crazy for the first few days. Still under development, but definately more ghetto than the truly refined all-black 2.5" model.

The innards of the GFI. Basically, just hollow out the entire box, and grind the filter down until it's just a gasket. It's now the "upper resonator". A very, very ghetto fabulous harmonic chamber.

Version 2.0, built from a cheapo eBay shortram. Aluminum tubing, 3" all the way. I'm liking it in a big way.

The guts. Very, very ghetto... 4 inch ABS for the plenum, the horn at the end it cut out of an IKEA funnel. Knockout test-cap secured with a homebrew grommet for the tail of the chamber. The front seal (not shown) was gutted out of a $5 eBay

What the AEM seems to be lacking. Inside their large pipe, the short section of 2.5" tubing just ends out in the plenum-- no cone to direct the air. Even see anyone run a carb or ITB with no horn on it? Neither have I... nor will I.

I need new pipe clamps. K&N uses the T-bolt style, which would add a sure touch of legitimacy... or fake legitimacy, as the case may be.

Yes kids, ripping a page right out of the AEM book, the GFI x2. I woulda gone with the "V2" but that was two versions ago. :P Basically adds a plenum (a la the AEM V2) to the upper section. The velocity cone at the intake mouth is my

Where the worthless resonator once lived, a short piece of 2.5" tubing and a K&N cone filter. Bam, instant CAI. And no risk of hydrolock (for those concerned) cause it'd take some trick to fill the whole stock airbox with water. Di

The first incarnation of the GFI, prior to the replacement upper pipe. There were noticeable gains after ditching the flat paper filter, but I could still feel the restriction up top. That led to v1.0...
